Niederreiter, drafted fifth overall by the Islanders in 2010, didn’t get invited to the team’s training camp despite suiting up in 55 NHL games last season.
#Isles When reached for comment, Snow said shortened training camp was determining factor in not inviting Niederreiter.

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound power forward has 19 goals and 36 points in 39 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season, which is good for 10th in AHL scoring. In 55 games last season Niederreiter had just one goal and was a minus-29, but also received the least amount of ice time (10:06) among regulars in the lineup. Snow said Niederreiter is a main candidate to be called up to the big club.
#Isles Snow declined to answer whether team would be open to trade but did say Nino as call-up still an option. “Yeah, absolutely”
