Oilers sign defenceman Fayne to four-year deal

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Mark Fayne for two years and locked up Benoit Pouliot for five years. Fayne will help out the defence and Pouliot will hopefully create room up front for the Oilers’ skill guys.

The Edmonton Oilers signed defenceman Mark Fayne to a four-year deal.

Fayne, 27, spent the last four seasons with the New Jersey Devils. He scored four goals and seven assists with 30 penalty minutes in 72 games in 2013-14.

In 242 career NHL games, Fayne has registered 13 goals, 35 assists and 99 penalty minutes.

He was originally selected in the fifth round (155th overall) by the Devils in the 2005 NHL Draft.
