Oilers sign defenceman Yohann Auvitu to one-year deal

The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Yohann Auvitu to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Auvitu got his first taste of the NHL in 2016-17 after signing a two-way deal with the New Jersey Devils in May 2016. The Ivry-sur-Seine, France, native registered two goals and two assists in 25 games with the Devils and added five goals and eight assists in 29 games with the team’s AHL affiliate in Albany.

The 27-year-old has spent most of his professional hockey career in the Finnish Elite League, tallying 19 goals and 38 assists in 216 games over the course of six seasons in Liiga.
