The Ottawa Senators placed forward Cory Conacher and defenceman Joe Corvo on waivers one day prior to the NHL trade deadline.
Conacher has registered four goals, 20 points and 34 penalty minutes in 59 games with the Senators this season. The 24-year-old is an impressive plus-8 on a team that has surrendered 25 more goals than they’ve scored this season. The undrafted Burlington, Ont., native was acquired by the Senators at last year’s trade deadline in the deal that sent goaltender Ben Bishop to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Corvo has 10 points in 25 games for the Sens, but hasn’t played since Jan. 11. The 36-year-old is set to become a UFA on July 1, while Conacher is a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
Panthers Scott Gomez and Scot Clemmensen, Maple Leafs left winger Trevor Smith, Wild centre Jake Dowell, Oilers blueliner Corey Potter and Flames defenceman Derek Smith were also placed on waivers Tuesday.
Leafs enforcer Frazer McLaren, Predators backup goalie Devan Dubnyk, Penguins forward Chuck Kobasew and Oilers defenceman Philip Larsen all went unclaimed after being waived Monday.
