Rangers acquire forward Daniel Catenacci from Sabres for Mat Bodie

The New York Rangers have made a minor move ahead of Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline.

The team acquired forward Daniel Catenacci from the Buffalo Sabres for defenceman Mat Bodie.

Catenacci, 23, was picked in the third round (77th overall) of the 2011 draft by Buffalo. This season, he has five goals and 13 points in 50 games for the AHL’s Rochester Americans. He’s played 11 NHL games in his career, all last season, but hasn’t yet recorded a point.

Bodie, 26, was never drafted to the NHL and is in his third professional season after leaving the ECAC’s Union College. This season, he has eight goals and 30 points in 45 games for the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. He has never played an NHL game.
