Rangers land blueliner Nick Holden in trade with Avalanche

The New York Rangers boosted their defensive depth, picking up Nick Holden in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Holden, 29, played 82 games for the Avalanche last season, recording six goals, 16 assists with 24 penalty minutes.

He has two years left on his contract, which has an annual salary cap hit of $1.65 million.

Holden has suited up in 221 career NHL games with the Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets.
