Boston Bruins forward Matt Beleskey won’t face any supplemental discipline for his hit on New York Rangers centre Derek Stepan Friday.
According to Bruins beat writer Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, the hit was reviewed by the NHL department of player safety and it was determined the hit was clean.
Midway through the second period of a 4-3 Bruins win, Beleskey hammered Stepan into the boards. Stepan suffered several broken ribs and is out indefinitely but Beleskey was not penalized for the hit on the play — he did receive a fighting major when he dropped the gloves with Dylan McIlrath. Some felt the hit was late or that it was boarding. The league did not.
