Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook has been made a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators, the Chicago Sun-Times’ Mark Lazerus is reporting.
Seabrook, usually a bedrock of consistency, has had a tumultuous season of peaks and valleys with his play. Altogether this season his one goal, 11 points and plus-seven rating has been lacklustre and he acknowledges that, telling Lazarus he needs to find that old steadiness that’s been eluding him this season.
Seabrook is among Chicago’s highest paid players, trailing only superstars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews for highest cap hit on the team. As Lazarus points out, to have that much money sitting in the press box, no matter how much the 32-year-old has contributed to this sustained period of Blackhawks success over his 13-season career, is a poor look for the Blackhawks.
Chicago plays Ottawa Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
