If the Chicago Blackhawks are going to continue their impressive streak of consecutive games earning at least one point, they’ll have to do it without Patrick Sharp.
According to Nick Cotsonika, an NHL writer for Yahoo! Sports, Sharp could miss the next two to three weeks with an upper body injury.
Sharp left with 12:08 remaining in the third period of the Chicago’s 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday with an apparent shoulder injury after he was driven into the boards by Avs defenceman Ryan O’Byrne.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that Sharp is expected to miss some time, but didn’t feel the injury will mean the end of his season.
Sharp’s injury will be evaluated and his status will be updated Thursday.
In 24 games this season, Sharp has five goals and 18 points. The Blackhawks are 21-0-3 so far and look to extend their hot streak on the road Friday in a rematch with the Avalanche.
