The Florida Panthers agreed to a six-year extension worth $4.1 million per year with forward Nick Bjugstad Tuesday night, according to a report from the Miami Herald.
The report was later confirmed by Sportsnet’s Jeff Markek.
Bjugstad, 22, was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season.
Drafted 19th overall by Florida in the 2010 NHL Draft, Bjugstad has 13 goals and 21 points in 34 games this season, including the Panthers’ lone goal in Tuesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens. The Panthers went on to lose 2-1 in a shootout.
