Senators send Hammond to Binghamton for conditioning stint

The Senators are looking for a repeat performance from their goaltending duo of Anderson and Hammond as well as Norris winner Erik Karlsson to get them farther in the playoffs this season.

The Ottawa Senators have sent goaltender Andrew Hammond to their AHL affiliate in Binghamton for a conditioning stint.

Hammond had been out with a head injury since Nov. 15 after taking multiple pucks to the mask.

The 27-year-old can remain with the Binghamton Senators for up to 14 days before returning to Ottawa.

Hammond signed a three-year $4.05-million contract after leading the team to a surprise playoff berth last season.

He’s only played four games this year, with a 2-0-2 record, 2.42 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
