MONTREAL— Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Wideman will meet with doctors Thursday to decide if he needs surgery to repair a torn hamstring.

Wideman, who has three goals and five assists in 16 games this season, suffered the injury after colliding with Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin during a 3-1 loss for the Senators on Nov. 16.

Should Wideman have surgery, he could miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

The Senators have lost five consecutive games in Wideman’s absence.
