Strome loaned to Islanders’ AHL affiliate

David Desharnais and Dale Weise scored as the Canadiens thumped the Islanders 4-1.

Ryan Strome, the New York Islanders‘ fifth overall selection from the 2011 NHL entry draft, has been loaned to the club’s AHL affiliate the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

If the move seems a tad unusual, it’s partly because Strome is in the third year of his entry level contract and had scored 50 points in 81 games last season.

The Islanders forward had a slow start to this season, scoring just one goal in 12 games, missing one as a healthy scratch.

Strome is a restricted free agent at season’s end. He’s scored 73 points in 130 NHL games.
