Twitter all over Avery on Dancing with the Stars

Sean Avery’s found a new dance partner. But not on the ice.

ABC announced that former NHL player Avery has joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars, becoming the first hockey player to appear on the reality series.

The Canadian will be competing against 11 contestants including the wife of former NHLer Valeri Bure, Candace Cameron Bure, and Olympic gold medallist ice dancing partners Charlie White and Meryl Davis. Former contestant and Fox Sports broadcaster Erin Andrews will also be joining the show as co-host.

While the former New York Ranger is no stranger to controversy, having drawn criticism on and off the ice for crude comments, aggressive behaviour and an all around confrontational style, he’ll need fan support if he wants to keep salsaing every week.

By the looks of things on Twitter, Avery might have a rough road ahead.
