Robert Bortuzzo has already received a call from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.
The Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman rocked veteran forward Jaromir Jagr with a huge check to the head behind the net late in the second period during Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
Jagr was down on the ice for a few minutes before leaving the game.
Bortuzzo did not receive a penalty on the play, which upset Devils head coach Peter DeBoer.
Entering Tuesday night, Bortuzzo has accumulated 14 penalty minutes in eight games this season.
