The first round of the NHL Draft can be a stressful time for young players, but for blue-chip prospects like Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome, it was a time to kick back and enjoy the moment.
Prior to McDavid being selected first overall by the Edmonton Oilers, he shared a nice moment with his Erie Otters teammate. As you can see in the video below, these two future NHL stars developed quite the friendship in junior.
While there was no mystery where McDavid would end up, it was a different story for Strome. As the third-ranked forward in the draft, many projected him to go No. 3 to the Arizona Coyotes but in some mock drafts he fell as far as No. 6.
In the end, though, the Coyotes did take him with the third pick.
If McDavid and Strome make their respective rosters out of training camp, their teams are first scheduled to meet Nov. 12 in Arizona.
