Tavares yanks tooth after taking puck to mouth

New York Islanders captain John Tavares is done for the season after injuring his knee in the Olympics.

If you were asked to describe a prototypical hockey player, tough and toothless would be among the chief characteristics.

And New York Islanders captain John Tavares reinforced those stereotypes Friday night.

After taking a puck to the mouth against the Chicago Blackhawks, Tavares returned to the Islanders bench, casually popped out his loose front tooth, took a breather and got back out onto the ice his next shift. Just another day at the office.
