Florida Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad is reportedly leaving the World Cup of Hockey tournament to return to Florida where he will be evaluated by team doctors.
Ekblad, a member of Team North America, suffered an upper-body injury in the team’s game Sunday night. Sportsnet’s Mark Spector confirmed it was a neck injury.
The 20-year-old defenceman signed an eight-year, $60-million contract this summer with the Panthers which will kick in for the 2017-18 season.
