Watch: UFC 202 press conference breaks into utter chaos

And you thought Josh Donaldson and John Gibbons had a heated exchange? The Blue Jays ain’t got nothin’ on UFC 202 headliners Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

The two fighters cursed like sailors and threw water bottles and energy drink cans like seasoned rioters at the conclusion of Wednesday’s pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas promoting Saturday’s event.

Diaz submitted McGregor at UFC 196 in March and the rivalry has only grown more intense since the rematch was announced.

The two were only on stage together for approximately three minutes, but it didn’t prevent things from boiling over.

McGregor was approximately 15 minutes late for the press conference and Diaz decided to walk off the stage in the middle of one of McGregor’s answers. The two began squabbling and flipping one another the bird from across the room as McGregor insulted Diaz and his entourage on the mic.

Diaz threw a water bottle towards McGregor and the situation escalated from there. UFC president Dana White tried to tell McGregor to stop throwing anything he could get his hands on while security escorted Diaz and his crew out of the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM Grand.

Here it is in all its chaotic glory.

A high percentage of sports press conferences are bland and forgettable, however that’s never the case when McGregor and Diaz are involved.

White said earlier in the week UFC 202 was trending towards being one of the biggest pay-per-view events in UFC history.
