GLASGOW — Jodie Kenny levelled for Australia with 17 seconds remaining and the defending champions went on to beat England 3-1 in a penalty shootout to take the Commonwealth Games gold medal in women’s field hockey Saturday.

Lily Owsley gave England a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute before Kenny, from a penalty corner, sent Australia into the shootout and eventually the gold.

New Zealand, which lost to England in a shootout in the semifinals, earlier beat South Africa 5-2 for the bronze medal.
