The Utah Hockey Club moved back into the first round on Friday to select forward Cole Beaudoin.

Utah traded a 2024 second-round pick (38th overall), a 2024 third-round pick (71st overall) and a 2025 second-round pick it had previously acquired in a trade with the New York Rangers to the Avalanche in exchange for the 24th-overall pick.

After picking Tij Iginla earlier in the night, Utah adds another forward to the mix in Beaudoin, who recorded 28 goals and 62 points for the OHL’s Barrie Colts in 2023-24.

Beaudoin, 18, hails from Kanata, Ont. and is a left-shot centre. He was ranked as the No. 36 prospect in this draft class by Sportsnet’s Jason Bukala.
