Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk helped Canada pull off a three-set upset over Brazil in the preliminary round of men’s beach volleyball in Rio on Tuesday morning.
The Canadians dropped the first set 21-17, but took the second set 21-17, and Saxton’s ace helped seal the 16-14 third-set win.
Sacton and Schalk are now 1-1 in the tournament after losing a tight three-set matchup with Latvia’s Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins on Sunday.
The Canadian tandem will face Cuba’s Nivaldo Nadhir Diaz Gomez and Sergio Reynaldo Gonzalez on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.
