With Switzerland only nine minutes away from being eliminated from Euro 2016, Xherdan Shaqiri put his team on his back and scored one of the top goals of the tournament.
It was Shaqiri’s first goal of the tournament and it saved his team from elimination by tying the score 1-1 with Poland in the first Round of 16 match of the day. Ultimately, Poland won 5-4 on penalty kicks after Shaquri missed his shot.
The 24-year-old midfielder who plays for Stoke City has likely never scored a bigger goal and his life. It’s even drawing praise from one pretty famous Swiss athlete.
