Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard may be having a tough time on the court of late, but her marketability certainly hasn’t suffered.
The 21-year-old has been named The World’s Most Marketable Athlete in 2015 by SportsPro Media.
Ranked No. 6 in the WTA, Bouchard jumped up 13 spots from her place last year and is the first woman to be ranked No. 1 in the six years SportsPro has published the list.
After winning her first WTA title and reaching at least the semifinals in three Grand Slams last season, Bouchard has struggled in 2015, dropping six of her last seven matches. However, Sports Media argues her recent string of losses has yet to have a bearing on her role as the future of women’s tennis and the WTA’s poster girl.
“At 21 and, for now at least, inside the world’s top ten, the gregarious girl from Montreal embodies everything the tour has become; a glamorous, global and staunchly driven reminder of why the WTA, an organisation built on gender equality and enhancing opportunities for women, exists in the first place.”
