The Montreal Canadiens have signed another young defenceman to a two-year contract.

The Canadiens and Justin Barron agreed to a two-year, $2.3 million contract on Tuesday. The agreement comes hours after the Canadiens and Arber Xhekaj came to terms on a two-year deal.

Both players were restricted free agents.

Barron, 22, had seven goals and 13 points in 48 games for the Canadiens last season. He added 11 points in 32 AHL games.

Barron was a first-round pick by the Avalanche in 2020. He was acquired by Montreal in a trade for Artturi Lehkonen.
