Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin won’t play in Saturday’s afternoon clash with the New York Rangers, the team announced.

The Capitals said Ovechkin is sidelined with a lower-body injury and listed as day-to-day.

Ovechkin was a game-time decision against Seattle on Thursday but still managed to suit up, logging 16:40 of ice time on his way to a sixth straight game with a point. The superstar winger is apparently playing through something.

However, Tom Wilson, sidelined since Wednesday when he took a puck to the face, returned to the lineup Saturday.

The Caps are back in action Sunday.
