Canadian 2023 world juniors forward Logan Stankoven was called up Tuesday by the Dallas Stars, setting the stage for what could be his NHL debut.

Stankoven, 20, was the leading scorer in the AHL at the time of his recall, with 24 goals and 33 assists for 57 points in 46 games.

The Kamloops, B.C., native was the Stars’ second-round pick, 47th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft. He also was a key member of Canada’s gold-medal-winning team at the world juniors in 2023, scoring three goals and adding eight assists for 11 points in seven games, in addition to an impressive plus-12.

In a corresponding move, Alexander Petrovic was sent to the Texas Stars of the AHL.

The Stars are in New York on Tuesday to take on the Rangers.
