The Utah Hockey Club have signed defenceman Michael Kesselring to a two-year extension, the club announced Friday.

Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reports the deal has an average annual salary of $1.4 million.

The 24-year-old Kesselring had five goals and 16 assists in 66 games for the Arizona Coyotes last season. His plus-11 mark was tied for the second-best on the team and finished third among team defencemen in scoring, with 106 hits.

“We are very pleased to have Michael as part of our club,” said Utah general manager Bill Armstrong. “He skates well, moves the puck effectively, and has a strong shot that can provide offence from the blueline. We look forward to having Michael in Utah for years to come.”

Kesselring played with the United States at the world championship after the regular season ended.

The New Hampshire native has five goals and 19 assists in 74 career games with the Coyotes.
