The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Tyler Motte to a one-year deal worth $800,000, the team announced on Tuesday.

The five-foot-10, 29-year-old appeared in 69 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2023-2024, tallying six goals and three assists. The depth, penalty-killing specialist added a goal in five playoff games with the Bolts.

The St. Clair, Michigan native was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He has since suited up for 400 career games across six teams, with his longest tenure being with the Vancouver Canucks from 2017-2022.

After getting drafted, Motte spent three years just outside of his hometown with the University of Michigan in the NCAA Big-10 conference. He had a career year during the 2015-16 season, posting 56 points in 38 collegiate games.
