The Calgary Flames selected their second defenceman at the NHL Draft.
Calgary selected Ottawa 67’s defenceman Henry Mews 74th overall in the third round on Saturday.
It was their third pick of the day, after using their first two on forwards Andrew Basha and Jacob Battaglia. Their first-round pick was defenceman Zayne Parekh, who they took ninth overall.
Mews, 18, enjoyed a career year with the 67’s in the OHL, picking up a career-high 15 goals and 46 assists in 65 games. He also had two goals and three assists in 10 playoff games.
He also picked up two goals and five assists for the gold medal-winning Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championship.
