The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward Brett Howden to a five-year, $12.5 million contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Howden, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, has eight goals and one assist in 20 games.

The 26-year-old from Calgary was drafted in the first round, 27th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2016. He never suited up for the Lightning and was traded to the New York Rangers in February of 2018.

The Golden Knights acquired Howden from the Rangers in July 2021. He won the Stanley Cup with Vegas in 2022.

Howden has 110 points (47 goals and 63 assists) in 371 career games over seven seasons with the Rangers and Golden Knights.
