The Winnipeg Jets might have gotten some good news about their star forward.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel told reporters Saturday that Nikolaj Ehlers has been listed as day-to-day and hasn’t officially been ruled out for the heavyweight clash against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
Arniel also mentioned that since the game against the Stars is set for 4:30 p.m. ET, it doesn’t give the forward as much time to fully recover, leaving his availability for the outing still in doubt.
Ehlers suffered a lower-body injury in Friday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights. He exited the game in the second period after Pavel Dorofeyev stepped on his foot while Ehlers was throwing a hit.
Ehlers, after also falling down, appeared to limp to the bench before eventually heading to the locker room. His final shift came just over six minutes into the period.
The 28-year-old, who has battled a handful of injuries throughout his career, is off to a strong start this season, recording 24 points (nine goals and 15 assists) in 23 games heading into Friday’s matchup.
Winnipeg (18-6) is on the back of a two-game skid and has lost five of its last 10 after a roaring hot start to the season. The Stars (14-8) are close behind them in third place in the Central division.
