The Toronto Maple Leafs are planning on handing a season debut to defenceman Timothy Liljegren on Saturday against the Boston Bruins, head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed.
Liljegren is set to be activated from long-term injured reserve on Friday as he recovers from sports hernia surgery before the regular season began.
The Swedish pivot played in 61 games for the Maple Leafs last season, registering five goals and 18 assists with a plus-15 rating.
Toronto has lost four straight games entering Wednesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. You can watch the game on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet NOW at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
