Gabriel Diallo is one win away from booking a ticket in a main draw at a Grand Slam for the second time in his career.
The 22-year-old Montreal native rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second set to beat France's Titouan Droguet 3-5, 7-5, 6-3 in the second round of US Open men's qualifying on Wednesday in New York.
It was the second three-set win this week for Diallo, who needs to beat France's Valentin Royer on Thursday to secure a spot in the main draw.
Diallo is ranked 144th in the world, Royer is 198th.
Diallo earned a spot in the French Open through qualifying earlier this year before losing in the first round.
Meanwhile, Canada's Rebecca Marino lost 6-4, 7-5 to the Netherlands' Arianne Hartono in the second round of women's qualifying.
The main draw starts on Monday.
