Report: Russian driver Nikita Mazepin to be replaced on Haas F1 team by Pietro Fittipaldi

The Haas Formula 1 racing team has parted ways with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, according to reports from Sky Sports Germany.

In his place, Haas will reportedly tap in Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi -- grandson of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittpaldi. Pietro was Haas' reserve driver and will be at the wheel for tests in Bahrain scheduled for March 10-12.

The FIA announced on Tuesday that Mazepin was allowed to drive under a neutral flag. Despite this, Haas decided to end their relationship with its driver -- son of Belarussian-Russian oligarch Dmitry Mazepin.

Since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Haas has removed Russian sponsor Uralkali branding from their car, equipment and team name.
