JOLIET, Ill. — Matt Tifft will be racing again this weekend following surgery to remove a brain tumour in June.
Tifft was scheduled to drive the No. 11 Toyota for Red Horse Racing in Friday night’s Truck Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
Tifft has raced six times in the Xfinity Series this year, and three times in Trucks. The 20-year-old was sidelined 11 weeks after the surgery to remove the tumour, which was discovered as Tifft was undergoing treatment for a back problem.
The tumour was about the size of a half-dollar and located near his right temple. It was not cancerous.
Tifft has twice tested a late-model stock car to gain NASCAR clearance to return to competition.
