The Los Angeles Angels released outfielder Trevor Gretzky, the son of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, on Saturday, according to reports.
Gretzky, who was originally selected in the seventh round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs, hit two home runs with 23 RBI while batting .242/.312/.318 for the A-level Burlington Bees of the Midwest League last season.
Los Angeles acquired Gretzky in 2014 in a trade with the Cubs in exchange for the Matt Scioscia, the son of the Angels’ manager.
