Toronto Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez left his start against the Tampa Bay Rays with a torn fingernail on the middle finger of his pitching hand.
Sanchez allowed six hits and one earned run in three innings on Monday.
This isn’t the first time this season that Sanchez has had to leave a start with a finger injury. On May 17 against the Chicago White Sox, Sanchez left after three innings with a blister on the same finger. After that start, Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said he was “hopeful” that Sanchez wouldn’t need to go on the injured list.
