The Toronto Blue Jays have activated Neil Ramirez ahead of the team’s game against the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

To make room for Ramirez on the roster, the team optioned Jason Adam to triple-A Buffalo and transferred Ryan Borucki — out for the season after an elbow procedure — to the 60-day injured list.

Ramirez signed a minor-league deal with the Blue Jays on Aug. 7. The 30-year-old has made two appearances in the Blue Jays minor-league system, pitching two scoreless innings — one at triple-A Buffalo and another at high-A Dunedin.

In 16 appearances with the Cleveland Indians this season, Ramirez had a 0-1 record, 5.40 ERA and 1.62 WHIP.

The Blue Jays are the seventh organization Ramirez has played for. He’s had previous stints with the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and Indians.

Davidi adds that closer Ken Giles, who’s battled elbow issues recently, is being held off the injured list after playing catch pre-game.
