TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays have added some catching depth by claiming Beau Taylor off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on Friday.

The 29-year-old, recently designated for assignment, was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Patrick Cantwell and Michael de la Cruz have been handling the catching for the Bisons since Reese McGuire’s recent promotion.

Taylor, 29, has appeared in 16 big-league games over the past two seasons but has spent the majority of those seasons at triple-A. This year, in 62 games with Las Vegas, he posted an .869 OPS in 62 games.
