SAN DIEGO – The San Francisco Giants selected right-hander Dany Jimenez from the Toronto Blue Jays in the Rule 5 draft Thursday.

The 25-year-old right-hander struck out 93 batters over 59 innings of 2.59-ERA ball between single-A Dunedin and double-A New Hampshire.

It’s the second straight year the Giants selected a player from the Blue Jays, taking left-hander Travis Bergen last year and eventually returning him after he appeared in 21 big-league games.

The Blue Jays, holding the fifth pick, passed.
