Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Steve Pearce has been reinstated from the disabled list and will bat lead-off Friday against the Los Angeles Angels.

In a corresponding move, the club placed right-hander Danny Barnes on the 10-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis.

Additionally, the Blue Jays also reinstated right-handed pitcher Sam Gaviglio from the paternity list and sent infielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to triple-A Buffalo.

Pearce has missed Toronto’s last 43 games with an oblique strain. Before the injury, he was batting .273/.333/.485 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 72 plate appearances.

Barnes was sporting a 4.60 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 17 walks in 32 appearances with Toronto this season.
