The Toronto Blue Jays placed Kendrys Morales on the disabled list and promoted left-hander Tim Mayza to the MLB roster Tuesday.

Morales was forced to exit Monday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles with a right hamstring strain. After reaching base, the switch-hitter appeared to be in some discomfort while walking back to the bag. He was eventually replaced by Yangervis Solarte, who moved to third with Josh Donaldson moving over to play first.

Morales is batting .227/.280/.364 with 6 RBI in 25 plate appearances this season. Tuesday’s game will see Donaldson back at third with Solarte as the designated hitter and Justin Smoak manning first base.

In the wake of Morales hitting the DL, Mayza has been called up from triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays play the second of their three-game set in Baltimore Tuesday night with Aaron Sanchez getting the start against Andrew Cashner.
