Blue Jays send Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to minor-league camp

Blue Jays starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker says he doesn’t have enough information about the new MLB rules, but says as of now he’s not a huge fan, and doesn’t think pace of play can ever be fixed.

The Toronto Blue Jays have reassigned top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to minor-league camp.

Guerrero Jr. has been sidelined since March 10 with an oblique injury, which will force him to miss the rest of spring training.

The 19-year-old phenom had four hits and a walk in 20 plate appearances with the Blue Jays this spring. He posted a 1.073 OPS with 20 home runs in 95 games across four minor-league levels in 2018.

It is expected the Blue Jays will keep him in the minors until the middle of April in order to delay his free agency by a year.
