Toronto Blue Jays starter Ryan Borucki is out for the season after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur in his left elbow, according to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith.

Borucki, who made just two appearances for the Blue Jays this season due to elbow inflammation, reportedly avoided Tommy John surgery, but had a procedure to clean up bone spurs in his left arm. He’s expected to be ready by spring.

The 25-year-old left-hander started the season on the 60-day IL after experiencing discomfort in spring training. He was activated on July 22, but pitched just 6.2 innings in two starts, posting a 10.80 ERA and 3.15 WHIP while surrendering two home runs before being sidelined again on July 31.
