TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays traded outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday in exchange for international signing bonus pool space.

Smith hit .262 with a pair of home runs across 35 games for the Blue Jays last season.

The left-handed hitting outfielder spent most of the 2018 season with triple-A Buffalo, where he batted .268 with six homers over 85 contests.

He was designated for assignm,ent earlier this week.

Smith, 26, has a career average of .268 over seven minor-league seasons with 150 doubles, 59 home runs, 341 RBI and 74 stolen bases.

He was selected by the Blue Jays in the first round (53rd overall) of the 2011 MLB draft.
