Braves add Weiss, Young Sr., Fasano to coaching staff

ATLANTA — Former Colorado manager Walt Weiss, who completed his playing career with Atlanta in 2000, is returning to the Braves as a bench coach.

Weiss led the Rockies to a 283-365 record as manager from 2013-16.

Atlanta also is adding Eric Young Sr. as first base and outfield coach and Sal Fasano as catching coach. Hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, assistant hitting coach Jose Castro, bullpen coach Marty Reed, pitching coach Chuck Hernandez and third base coach Ron Washington will return to manager Brian Snitker’s staff.

Former bench coach Terry Pendleton and first base coach Eddie Perez have been offered other positions.

Young worked on Weiss’ staff in Colorado for three years. Fasano managed Double-A Mobile in the Angels’ organization last season.
