Third baseman Josh Donaldson has received a qualifying offer from the Atlanta Braves, the team announced.

Donaldson, a former American League MVP with the Toronto Blue Jays, slashed .259/.379/.521 in 155 games with the Braves this year and is on the cusp of free agency. The Braves extended him a qualifying offer on Monday — the deadline to do so — which is valued at $17.8 million (i.e. the average of the top 125 MLB salaries).

The 33-year-old has earned $23 million each of the past two years. He has 10 days to accept or reject the offer.

If Donaldson rejects, the Braves will receive a compensatory draft pick if he signs elsewhere on the open market.
