CBN: Pinero among 11 Canadians playing in NCAA field of 64

The NCAA Division I regionals are here and 11 Canadians are on the rosters of teams still alive and in the hunt as the road to the College World Series continues.

A total of 28 Canadians were on the rosters of the NCAA field of 64 attempting to reach Omaha. A look at this year’s Canucks still alive and headed into the NCAA tournament…

Infielder, Brad Antchak (Langley, BC)
University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns
Antchak is hitting .233 this season for a Louisiana Lafayette team that prepares to host a regional. He has played in 44 games, making 32 starts so far. The Ragin’ Cajuns will play host to fellow Canadian Louis Boyd and the Arizona Wildcats, Sam Houston State and Princeton.

Infielder/Left Handed Pitcher, Mitch Bigras (Sarnia, Ont.)
Boston College Eagles
Bigras has hit .255 so far this season in 40 games, 24 starts for the Eagles. He is also labelled as a left handed pitcher but has yet to make an appearance this season. Boston College takes on Ole Miss, Tulane and Utah in the Oxford Regional.

Left Handed Pitcher, Mark Baughman (Calgary, Alta.)
Louisiana Tech University Bulldogs
Baughman is 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA in 2016 for the Bulldogs. The big lefty has appeared in eight games, all in relief.

Infielder, Louis Boyd (North Vancouver, BC)
University of Arizona Wildcats
Boyd is hitting .255 in 50 games played, 44 of which were starts. Arizona is up against Louisiana Lafayette, Sam Houston State and Princeton.

Left Handed Pitcher, Fernando Fernandez-Beltram (Mercier, Que.)
University of New Mexico Lobos
Fernandez-Beltram is 0-0 record with a 5.96 ERA while appearing in 18 games for the Lobos. New Mexico is locked in a regional with Texas Tech, Dallas Baptist and Fairfield. Their first game is against the Patriots of Dallas Baptist.

Infielder, Raphael Gladu (Trois Rivieres, Que.)
Louisiana Tech University Bulldogs
Gladu currently leads the Bulldogs in average with a .365 mark. Louisiana Tech readies for Mississippi State, Cal State Fullerton and Southeastern Missouri State.

Left Handed Pitcher, Ben Onyshko (Winnipeg, Man)
Stetson University Hatters
Onyshko currently holds a 2-1 record with a 4.26 ERA through 15 games, seven starts. The Hatters are in Coral Gables, Fla. to take on Miami, Florida Atlantic and Long Beach State.

Infielder, Daniel Pinero (Toronto, Ont.)
University of Virginia Cavaliers
Pinero is hitting .335 so far this season. Virginia is hosting a regional that features Bryant, East Carolina and William & Mary. The Cavaliers are the defending national champions.

Outfielder, Jacob Robson (Windsor, Ont.)
Mississippi State University Bulldogs
Robson is currently fourth in average for the Bulldogs, hitting at a .335 clip. Mississippi State is hosting a regional that features Cal State Fullerton, Louisiana Tech and Southeast Missouri State.

Outfielder, Julian Service (Sarnia, Ont.)
Southeastern Louisiana University Lions
Service has hit .284 in 25 games, 22 starts for the Lions this season. Southeastern Louisiana heads to Baton Rouge, La., home of in-state rival Louisiana State University for their regional. Along with LSU the Lions will also take on Rice and Utah Valley.

Infielder, Luke Tevlin (Toronto, Ont.)
Binghamton University Bearcats
Tevlin is hitting .250 on the year through 13 games played. Binghamton is up against host Texas A&M, Minnesota and Wake Forest in their regional.
