Ezequiel Carrera will return to Blue Jays camp as non-roster invitee

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons says he likes how his outfield sounds with Grichuk, Pillar, Granderson, and Pierce, but says don’t write off Teoscar Hernandez for a roster spot just yet.

Outfielder Ezequiel Carrera has been outrighted to triple-A Buffalo and will return to major-league camp with the Toronto Blue Jays as a non-roster invitee, the team announced Thursday.

The 30-year-old, who spent the past three seasons with the Blue Jays, was designated for assignment by the club earlier this week to make room on the 40-man roster for incoming reliever Seung-hwan Oh.

Carrera hit .282/.356/.408 with eight home runs in 131 games with Toronto last season.
